About Nekton

Now Celebrating over 25 Years of Scuba Training!

Nekton SAC is based at The Bridge Leisure Centre in Lower Sydenham, London, SE26 5AQ and was established in 1994. We are members of the British Sub Aqua Club- BSAC, and welcome enquiries from experienced divers as well as those looking to train from scratch.

We currently have 5 Open Water Instructors, 5 Advanced Divers and many Dive Leaders  and Assistant Instructors to call on to help with your training.

We also have divers with RYA boat handling qualifications Levels 1, 2 & 3.

We arrange regular dives throughout the season along the South coast from Dover to Weymouth using a variety of hard boats as well as club holidays to hotter climates. We have recently organised trips to Borneo, The Maldives, Scapa Flow in Scotland and of course The Red Sea.

If you are not sure what scuba diving is like but would like to have a go, why not book a Try Dive with us!

A try dive consists of you visiting our pool one Wednesday evening, where you are given  a full safety briefing and then we kit you out with basic scuba gear, nothing technical! You can then have a dive in the pool, one to one with one of our BSAC trained instructors for about an hour, no pressure!

If that sounds appealing give Jackie a call on 01689 850 130 and ask about having a go at a try dive.

Where does our name come from?

Nekton

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nekton refers to the aggregate of actively swimming aquatic organisms in a body of water (usually oceans or lakes) able to move independently of water currents.

Nekton can be contrasted with plankton, which refers to the aggregate of passively floating, drifting, or somewhat motile organisms present in a body of water, primarily tiny algae and bacteria, small eggs and larvae of marine organisms, and protozoa and other minute consumers.
